City Branding

Victoria, B.C. is the warmest spot in Canada. It's known as the 'Garden City' with a scenic inner harbour loved by tourists and locals alike. My City Branding of Victoria has 3 variations (not enough, really...) to try and showcase the theme of Diversity from different perspectives: 1) Outdoors ~ Diversity of landscape: 'Ocean to Mountain'; 2) Diversity of flora: 'Spring to Summer' (bloom time); 3) Diversity of Cultures: 'Totems to Theatre (& Tectoria)'. Enjoy.

Victoria city logo ~ Ocean to Mountain

Logo iconic of the outdoor beauty around Victoria. Colors reminiscent of the expanse of blue skies and waters with a flowery orange pink. The wheel, the eco-conscious bikers on Victoria's many lovely nature trails, and of course, grease the squeaky wheels.

Victoria city logo ~ Spring to Summer

This logo represents the flora that blooms every year as well as the city's well cared for curb side and public spaces flowers. The theme can be expanded to say 'Flora to Fauna', and depict some of the wonderful animals around Victoria's natural reserves.

Victoria city logo ~ Totem to Theatres

Carrying the same brand strategy: the diversity of arts and culture expressed here as the theatre masks. You can also see in all the logos the skyline/ shoreline of Victoria's famous inner harbour.

Visit Victoria 2022. Hopefully post-Covid by then.

City Branding - Iconography

With the main city logo mark of Victoria are the theme-based icons following the theme 1) Outdoor activities: mountain bike, whale watching, glamping icons; 2) Flora: Dogwood, provincial flower of B.C., Cherry Blossoms (Victoria's pride) & Magnolia (grows so well in Victoria climate); 3) Cultures: First Nations totem, Arts & Culture: the theatre, Fort Tectoria ~ the technopreneurials and Jazz & Blues.

Next: Beverage Packaging...

Title image

Beverage packaging: FarFlung Herbal Brewery

The brand characters from this brewery were based on ancient heroic characters hence, the name 'Far Flung' ~ remote and of another time yet you can still enjoy its referent symbols here in this beer.

Sage Builder ~ FarFlung Gruit

'Sage Builder' (of bridges) is another ancient historical hero that is a brand in FarFlung Gruit. Hydrilla and Maral roots are the herb flavours that strengthens the muscles and sharpened your senses. This 13th century sage builds iron bridges with sky metal. Drink to it! Story on flap.

Far Flung Herbal Gruit

'Slayer' is for the hot-tempered. Modern life is stressful – embracing our moods with a cool beer is awesome. After all, this historical slayer assassinated a cruel king - drink to that! The infused herb here are Skullcap and Rose petals. Story on flap.

Skydancer ~ FarFlung Gruit

Skydancer, our historical yogini from a secluded and sacred lineage, is the 3rd branding for FarFlung Gruit. Sage and Rowan herb infusion detoxifies and gives you the calming effect. Story on flap.

Museum Brand & Logo ~ next

Next is the corporate brand logo and stationery system I did as a school project for Royal BC Museum (RBCM). Adobe Illustrator.

RBCM master logo - 2 colors

Project was to create the master logo in only 2 colors. I decided on this iconic very old and precious totem that stands near to the museum's main entrance. The totem is called 'Kwakwaka'wakw' and has this rare Sun man symbol. The spikes are the sun rays.

Totem marks

Adobe Illustrator a variety of totem marks for the logo.

Royal BC Museum brands

From the Royal BC Museum (RBCM) collections comes this Adobe Illustrator version I did of a Mayan artifact: 'jaguar man'. (Refer to external link below for original)..remember to come back!

RBCM business card design.

Tagline: 'Here Natural & Human History Narrates..' Captures some of the artifacts of the museum: the famous Woolly the Mammoth, the First Nations trader on a canoe, the Snow owl taxonomy and the fossil fish. Enjoy.

Presentation RBCM stationery brand

This is the full presentation of the brand stationery I created for the Royal BC Museum project. Bluish purple representative of the coastal color of Victoria harbour, where the museum is located. A touch of varied colors for the museum visitors stickers.
